Aalto University once again improved its ranking in the global executive education ranking published annually by the prestigious financial magazine Financial Times, which evaluates the world's best executive education programs customized for companies and other organizations.
Aalto ranked #31 in the ranking, which was published on May 20 (#32 in 2023; #35 in 2022). Aalto's programs were rated as the third best in the Nordic countries and the 25th best in Europe. Aalto also operates in Asia. In the heavily competed Asia-Pacific market, it ranked #7.
Aalto’s customized programs, as well as all other paid executive education and professional development programs, are delivered by Aalto EE, an university-owned company.
The ranking results are based on customer surveys and information provided by educational institutions. They are based on several criteria, which are emphasized in different ways when determining the final ranking.
“I am grateful to our clients for giving us this positive feedback. Improving our rankings for custom programs now three years in a row shows that our clients value the way we have renewed our customized programs and the direction in which we are developing them," says Commercial Director Miro Malmelin from Aalto EE.
Among other things, Aalto’s ranking was positively influenced by the fact that the customers felt that the value for money they gained from Aalto was at a high level. They also said that they were likely to use Aalto EE’s services in the future.
"We put a lot of effort into acting as a reliable bridge between scientific research and working life. I believe it can be seen in our customers' satisfaction, which was also measured in this comparison," says Tom Lindholm, Managing Director of Aalto EE, and the Head of Lifewide Learning at Aalto University.
Aalto EE is backed up by a prestigious university that brings together top expertise in technology, business, and design. “All Aalto EE trainings are based on trusted scientific information. The problems solved by companies are increasingly complex, so they also need reliable, interdisciplinary knowledge and expertise," adds Lindholm.
Internationality is an asset for Aalto
The Financial Times' Executive Education ranking is twofold. It includes both the world's 90 best-rated business schools offering customized solutions and 70 best-rated business schools offering open programs.
In previous years, the Financial Times has also published the combined result of the two comparisons, but this year it abandoned the so-called combined ranking.
In open programs, Aalto's ranking fell by one notch compared to the previous year. The ranking was now #60 internationally and #39 in Europe. In the Nordic countries, it was ranked fifth and in Asia ninth.
"The multidisciplinarity of Aalto provides us an interesting basis for delivering open programs. We can in a unique way to combine business, technological, and creative expertise, which our participants find attractive. We put a lot of effort on the digital learning experience and portfolio, which increases their accessibility globally. Its really important to us to educate participants from diverse backgrounds. Moreover, we collaborate with the top universities globally and offer possibilities study tours for both our own participants as well as participants from other universities," says Reetta Ruusunen, Business Area Director, Programs and Learning Solutions at Aalto EE.
Aalto was successful in the open program ranking both internationally and compared to its Nordic competitors, for example because a significant part of Aalto's participants are international.
In the Financial Times' custom ranking, the globally operating INSEAD took the top place internationally, and in the open ranking, the French HEC Paris ranked highest.
