The program trains you to explore, validate, and scale new business models and/or renew existing ones. You will go back to your organization with proven tools and practices to systematically build new, scalable businesses with greater agility, customer centricity, and innovativeness.
At first, the Business Model Development program introduces approaches and methods to test hypotheses underlying your strategy and to gain a better understanding of your positioning and the dynamics of competition in the market. Then you will work with state-of-the-art methodologies such as value proposition development, business model development, and customer development in their search for novel and scalable business opportunities that create value for customers and align with corporate strategy.

Communicate the Value – Learn how to optimize your go-to-market strategies to take your idea to the market and gain traction with customers
4.5 ECTS credits can be transferred from this program to the Aalto EMBA or Aalto MBA program.

Contents and Schedule
The program introduces tools and approaches to gain better understanding of the competitive dynamics in the market, and to test hypotheses underlying your strategy and competitive advantage. Participants learn and practice market proven tools and methods to explore new and scalable business opportunities that create value for your customers.
We will complete the module through a mix of group activities, lectures, and class discussions. Experiential hands-on learning will be strongly emphasized. During the sessions, you will be challenged to step out of your comfort zone and experience a disruptive environment.
The program contains a written pre-assignment and a take-home assignment. The program is worth 4.5 ECTS credits.

Mikko Laukkanen
Mikko Laukkanen is Professor of Practice at Aalto University School of Business and Academic Director at Aalto EE where he is responsible for the academic quality of Aalto EE’s programs.
Dr. Laukkanen specializes in customer experience management, service design and service business, strategic marketing, business model innovation, and innovation management.
He has an extensive background in consulting and research projects with large international firms and is a well-liked lecturer and sought-after public speaker. He has pioneered a number of experiential teaching methods in his executive and university teaching.
Mikko Laukkanen has a Doctor of Science in Economics and Business Administration from Aalto University School of Business.

Fabian Sepulveda
Dr. Fabian Sepulveda is a Senior Advisor at Aalto EE.
Sepulveda has more than 20 years of experience in engineering, management consulting, and investment banking.
Fabian Sepulveda has been actively involved in Finland’s entrepreneurial ecosystem as an entrepreneur, startup coach, Lean Launchpad® trainer, Business Angel, and Venture Capitalist. He has co-founded three companies: eyescubed (automotive technology), Courage Ventures Consulting (Entrepreneurial Training), and Courage Ventures Funds, a Venture Capital firm investing in Health, Education, and Environment verticals.
Fabian has a BSc in Electrical Engineering, an MSc. in Finance, and a PhD in International Business (Entrepreneurship).
